Homer's mythological tales of war and homecoming, the Iliad and the Odyssey, are widely considered to be two of the most influential works in the history of western literature. Yet their author, 'the greatest poet that ever lived' is something of a mystery. By the 6th century BCE, Homer had already become a mythical figure, and today debate continues as to whether he ever existed. In this Very Short Introduction Barbara Graziosi considers Homer's famous works and their impact on readers throughout the centuries. She shows how the Iliad and the Odyssey benefit from a tradition of reading that spans well over two millennia, stemming from ancient scholars at the library of Alexandria, in the third and second centuries BCE, who wrote some of the first commentaries on the Homeric epics. Summaries of these scholars' notes made their way into the margins of Byzantine manuscripts; from Byzantium the annotated manuscripts travelled to Italy; and the ancient notes finally appeared in the first printed editions of Homer, eventually influencing our interpretation of Homer's work today. Along the way, Homer's works have inspired artists, writers, philosophers, musicians, playwrights, and film-makers. Exploring the main literary, historical, cultural, and archaeological issues at the heart of Homer's narratives, Graziosi analyses the enduring appeal of Homer and his iconic works. Flimsy and doesn’t hold weight
Size: 17 Inch, Color: Natural, Size: 17 Inch, Color: Natural
Do not buy this. The frame this comes with is so small and flimsy. I didn’t even have anything on the shelves yet and they were falling off the wall. The wood is a beautiful color but the quality is awful.
I had different floating shelves on the same wall and I included a picture of the thick metal frame those came with, also from Amazon to show how flimsy this brand is.

Really nice shelves well-made
Size: 30 Inch, Color: Walnut, Size: 30 Inch, Color: Walnut
I recently installed a set of floating wooden shelves above my kitchen sink, and they have completely transformed the space. The natural wood grain adds warmth and character, making my kitchen feel more open and inviting. The shelves are sturdy and well-made, supporting everything from dishware to small plants and decorative items without any sagging.
Installation was straightforward, with the included hardware making it easy to mount them securely. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they hold weight while maintaining a sleek, minimalistic look. The floating design gives a clean, uncluttered aesthetic, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Functionally, they’ve made a huge difference. I can now keep everyday essentials like mugs and spices within easy reach while freeing up valuable counter space. They’re also a great alternative to upper cabinets, preventing the area above my sink from feeling closed in.
Overall, these floating wooden shelves are both practical and stylish. Whether you’re looking to add storage or just enhance your kitchen’s design, they’re a fantastic option. I highly recommend them for anyone wanting a simple yet impactful upgrade to their space!

Look nice, not sturdy or supportive
Size: 17 Inch, Color: Dark Blue
The color and thickness of the shelf is great. Very easy to install. But the wall mount portion is cheaply made and doesn’t support the shelf as well as it should. Once mounted the shelf leans forward and isn’t sturdy. After mounting, I found my items had slid off end up on the floor.

The color is beautiful
Size: 17 Inch, Color: Dark Blue
These are beautiful! I bought them for my Grandsons Baseball room. We haven’t put them up yet. They will be a great addition to his red, white, and blue baseball room!

Very solid and nice looking
Color: Natural, Size: 72 Inch
Very solid. Mounting hardware is sturdy when you mount it into the studs of the wall. I weigh 180 lbs and I sat on it with no issue
