From one of our premier literary scholars, here is a learned and witty introduction to the sheer vitality of literature and the satisfactions of a close, informed engagement with it (New York Times). Robert Alter s illumination of the unique power of reading literature is especially valuable at a time when we are surrounded by electronic texts that distract more than engage and when the special claims of literature are disparaged by the high priests of literary theory. Alter explores the strategies that distinguish literature the resources of style, the dynamics of allusion, the formal design of structure, the play of perspective in narrative. He draws on copious examples from the great works of literary art from the Book of Genesis to Shakespeare, Conrad, and Nabokov to illustrate his analysis of what makes reading a source of complex pleasure and insight."Binding Type: Paperback

Love!
Size: Large, Color: (100) White / White / Mod Gray
Ive tried so many no show socks but I love these. This is the 3rd set I've bought. They never slip off and the material is thin and breathable. Perfect for working out.

True no-show socks that don’t slide down!
Size: Medium, Color: (100) White / White / Mod Gray, Size: Medium, Color: (100) White / White / Mod Gray
This is the first pair of no-show socks I’ve tried that actually don’t slide down into my shoes. Trust me… I have tried lots of different pairs and this is the one! They fit perfectly. They’re not too thick and they’re obviously durable because I wash them after each wear, so daily.

These are really great socks. I love them, but they are definitely pricey.

Great socks!
Size: Medium, Color: (252) Blush Beige / White / Castlerock
Love these socks so much I got a second package. I like how thin and airy they are and they never slide down my heel. For thin socks they’re pretty durable.

The best pair of work / workout / casual socks I've bought in long time! They're no show on all my sneakers, incredibly comfortable and they never move.
