The Fairy Hunt!  is about Mina, Buddy, and Eve packing snacks and taking a walk deeper than ever before into the woods behind their home in search of fairies. What they discover is a world of magic and wonder, where they learn about the connections between nature, their new special friends, and themselves. An adventure indeed! The author hopes readers come away with a natural sense of wonder, and take notice of the magic that can be found all around them if they only pause a moment to see it.

About the Author

Melanie Gerndt is a wife and mother of three. The children in the story are based on her own three children, and it’s a story she wrote for them on a summer day while the family was camping. Gerndt has always loved fairies and has often told her children stories about the fairies that live in a little glen in the woods. They have bumblebee races and drink dewdrop tea with honey cakes. The magic of childhood, in Gerndt’s opinion, should always have fairies. She has quite a few hobbies. When she finds a few moments in between work and being a mom, Gerndt loves to cook, read, crochet, paint, draw, and write. She loves the outdoors and the magic of nature. She loves animals and so do all her children. The Gerndt family has more than its share of pets—cats, dogs, and fish so far.
