Description

Pro PCTG, Grass Green, 1.75mm3D Fuel Pro PCTG is like PETG but better in many ways. It is tougher (up to 30x tougher than PETG), more chemically resistant, and has even greater clarity than PETG. Pro PCTG is an easy to use material with a lower moisture absorption rate than PETG and doesn't require an enclosure use it just like PETG. The broad color selection and ease of printing make it an ideal choice for printing in a multi color 3D printing system like the Bambu Lab AMS.

Bambu AMS Compatibility

Since October 2023, the 3D-Fuel Standard PLA+ has been manufactured using an AMS-compliant spool (more info on our spool sizes and weights). Since it takes time for some colors to move through our warehouse inventory, you may receive an older spool type. This is still compatible with the AMS, but you must leave the lid open a few mm.

Pro PCTG is 20-50% More Impact Resistant Than PETG

Key Reasons for Better Impact Toughness:

  1. Molecular Structure:
    • PCTG contains cyclohexane dimethanol (CHDM), which gives it increased flexibility and toughness compared to PETG’s ethylene glycol structure.
  2. Flexibility vs. Brittleness:
    • PCTG is more ductile, allowing it to absorb and dissipate energy during impact without cracking or shattering.
  3. Layer Adhesion:
    • PCTG has better inter-layer bonding when 3D printed, reducing weak points in the structure where impact forces might cause failure.

Real-World Implications:

  1. Drop Resistance:
    • PCTG parts are less likely to crack, chip, or break when dropped, making it ideal for high-impact applications like enclosures or wearable devices.
  2. Repeated Stress:
    • PCTG can endure repeated bending or sudden forces better than PETG, making it more suitable for hinges, clips, and flexible parts.
  3. Durability in Extreme Conditions:
    • PCTG resists embrittlement under low temperatures, maintaining its toughness in environments where PETG may fail.

Example Use Cases Benefiting from PCTG's Toughness:

  • Protective housings for electronics or tools.
  • Drone parts and propeller guards.
  • Flexible clips, snap-fits, and living hinges.
  • Impact-resistant containers or enclosures.

Chemical Resistance

Chemical Type Examples PCTG Advantage PETG Limitation Comparison (CRR)
Alcohols Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), ethanol, methanol Resists prolonged exposure without degrading or cracking. Degrades or stress cracks with high alcohol concentrations over time. 1.8
Hydrocarbons Hexane, heptane, gasoline, mineral spirits Better resistance to hydrocarbon-based solvents. Softens or weakens when exposed to hydrocarbons. 2.0
Acids Acetic acid, citric acid, phosphoric acid Maintains structural integrity in mild to moderately concentrated acids. Degrades faster in acidic environments at higher concentrations. 1.4
Bases (Alkalis) Sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide Better resistance to strong alkalis. May crack or degrade when exposed to strong bases. 1.33
Cleaning Agents Bleach (sodium hypochlorite), industrial degreasers, detergent solutions Withstands harsh cleaning agents without discoloration or damage. Discolors, cracks, or loses properties with harsh cleaning agents over time. 1.5
Oils and Lubricants Engine oils, hydraulic fluids, cutting oils Resists degradation from prolonged exposure to oils. Absorbs oils over time, potentially leading to swelling or weakening. 1.6
Ketones Acetone, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) Performs slightly better in low-concentration ketones. Softens or dissolves more readily in ketone-rich environments. 1.2

Pro PCTG Has Lower Moisture Absorption Than PETG

  1. PETG:

    • Hygroscopic: PETG absorbs moisture from the air, but at a relatively low rate compared to more hygroscopic materials like nylon or TPU.
    • Moisture Absorption Rate: Approximately 0.2–0.3% by weight after prolonged exposure to humid environments.
    • Effects of Moisture:
      • During printing, moisture in PETG can lead to stringing, bubbling, and surface defects due to water vaporizing in the hotend.
      • Mechanical properties (like impact strength) can slightly degrade over time with prolonged exposure to high humidity.
  2. PCTG:

    • Slightly Lower Moisture Absorption: PCTG absorbs less moisture than PETG, typically around 0.1–0.2% by weight.
    • Improved Resistance: Due to its cyclohexane dimethanol (CHDM) component, PCTG’s molecular structure makes it less hygroscopic and more resistant to moisture-induced degradation.
    • Effects of Moisture:
      • PCTG generally performs better than PETG in humid conditions, retaining clarity, toughness, and dimensional stability for longer periods.

Why the Difference?

  • Molecular Structure:
    • PETG’s glycol modification increases flexibility but leaves the material slightly more hygroscopic.
    • PCTG’s modified structure with CHDM reduces the polar sites available for moisture interaction, resulting in less absorption.

Practical Implications:

  1. 3D Printing:

    • PETG: Requires drying more frequently, especially if exposed to humid environments, as even slight moisture absorption can lead to print defects (bubbling, stringing, poor adhesion).
    • PCTG: Requires less frequent drying, making it easier to handle in environments with higher humidity. It is also more forgiving if printed without drying.
  2. Storage:

    • Both materials benefit from being stored in airtight containers with desiccant.
    • PCTG will be less prone to degradation if exposed to moisture for extended periods compared to PETG.
  3. Long-Term Use in Humid Environments:

    • PCTG is more stable and less likely to lose mechanical properties over time in high-humidity settings.

Drying

For both materials, drying before printing and proper storage is recommended for optimal performance, but PCTG is less maintenance-intensive in this regard.

When you need to dry Pro PCTG, use a temperature of 60-70C for 4-8 hours.

MICRONEEDLING IS MY SKIN’S SECRET WEAPON!!!
Microneedling completely transformed my skin. Of every treatment I have ever tried, this one has made the biggest difference in texture, glow, and overall refinement. After years of paying for appointments, I decided to learn proper technique and invest in a Dr. Pen device for at home use, and I truly have never looked back. Needle Options and Coverage: I typically use a 16 pin cartridge, so I am excited to incorporate the 36 pin into my routine. The wider pin configuration allows for broader coverage, which makes it especially useful for larger areas of the face and even the body. It gives me more versatility in my treatments. Compatibility and Value: It is such a relief to find cartridges that are compatible with my Dr. Pen device right here on Amazon. The price point is very reasonable, especially compared to professional treatment costs. Having reliable, accessible replacements makes maintaining my routine so much easier. Excellent value for the money. Final Thoughts: Convenient, affordable, and a great addition to my microneedling routine… I love having professional level tools within reach… and my skin continues to thank me for it…

A long, HONEST & detail filled review (with usage tips) from a skincare junkie.
These cartridges arrived super fast (with enough time to spare for a quick face sesh before the holidays!). The lot of 12 was packed in a cellophane/paper bag (the basic, unlabeled sterilization bags) that was sealed shut. The cartridges themselves are all separately packaged (in smaller plastic/paper sterilization bags), each one was properly sealed shut, ensuring sterilization. The individual bags have an illustration of the cartridge and are labeled as “36 NEEDLE” . There are photos of and all the different size needle patterns as well. Each package contains a proper lot #, manufacture date (10/10/25) and expiration date (10/09/2028) along with the info that the disposable tips were sterilized with non-pyrogen EO Gas. Not a single package was damaged or open and all contained the proper cartridge inside. I was VERY happy when I removed one of the cartridges and saw that it (they all) have the protective cap/cover inside the tube/over the needles. Not only is that more sanitary and keeps the needles protected in the event the spring is pushed, but it's also a dead giveaway for spotting bad/bootleg cartridges (as they typically don't come with the cap). While these might not be brand name, they definitely aren't bootleg quality! These are nearly identical to the cartridges I order directly from Dr. Pen. They are the same size and shape, with the color of the plastic tubing being the only slight difference. The 36 needle pattern is legit, with the long row of 10 needles in the center, a row above and below that with 8 needles and the rows on the top and bottom containing 5 needles each. They are perfectly spaced and staggered. The cartridges fit my M7S perfect- nice and snug with no wiggling or looseness. The silicone membrane keeps your pen clean and hygienic and the spring system provides smooth, continuous movement without the needles getting stuck or punching jerky. The needles themselves are very fine and they are nice and sharp. I am extremely sensitive to anything other than medical grade stainless or titanium (I know immediately when I'm using something that's not that!) and I haven't had a single issue with these. Considering 10 brand name cartridges are $40, getting 12 of these that look and function almost identically for $25 is a steal. With no minimum spend for shipping and quick arrival time, I know I'll be buying these again! ⭐️TIPS FOR USING THE 36 NEEDLE CARTRIDGES⭐️ These cartridges are perfect for wrinkles and fine lines, large pores, pigmentation, increasing firmness as well as hydration (after using these, your products sink deep down in the skin- quick. It's great!). *For lines and wrinkles on the face and neck, you want a depth of 1.5 - 2.0mm (with a max of 1.5 for the glabellar lines or the 11's). For wrinkles around the lips, 0.5 - 1.5mm *If you are working on your pores, 0.5 - 1.0mm depth *Uneven pigmentation, 0.5 - 1.5mm depth and 1.0 - 2.0mm depth for sun spots specifically. *For firmer, tighter skin and skin laxity, 1.5 - 2.0mm These are just some general depth guidelines I use with these cartridges. I am not an aesthetician, but I am a total skincare junkie that has been microneedling myself for the past 15 years. As always, do your own research, especially because different areas around the face may require a shallower depth. If you are uncomfortable, then adjust the depth for your comfort. Finally, remember to clean your skin, hands and pen throughly before microneedling and work in a clean environment too. You don't want to introduce any bacteria or germs 2mm down (or even .5mm down) in your dermis. Also, these are single use cartridges and they are very affordable, so don't try to clean and reuse them (that's just asking for trouble!) Instead, toss and replace!

For larger size areas
Top quality with stainless steel material. Using 36 pins which sturdy pins. It fits well on M8 and easy to use. Because of the size it works a bit tougher/ harder providing deeper penetration. Because of the amount of pins these are for larger sized areas leaving this more for moderate to experts to be able to use this efficiently and effectively. Good value for the money

Works just as well as the OG, but for much less
This is a perfect and less costly way to get microneedling cartridges for my Dr. Pen M8. They fit perfectly and work just as well. They come with all kinds of precautions taken to keep them sterile, which is very important with something meant to reach down into your skin. The pins are just like the originals and honestly I can't feel any difference when using it. There's no need to pay more for name brand when these work just as well. I'm always a bit cautious because so many off brands aren't just cheap in price, but in quality. Not these, they're the real deal. You can save money and get replacement cartridges that will do a great job.
