Red Jewel Cabbage is a cool season annual with uniform blue green basal foliage and a short core with a dense garnet red crown that is usually ready for harvest after 75 days.  The sweet taste a crisp texture makes it good fresh or for shredding.  Best if grown in rich, consistently moist well-drained loamy soils.   

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance.  A cool seasonal plant best grown in spring or fall.  Potential insect problems include cabbageworms, cabbage loopers, flea beetles, caterpillars, thrips, slugs and aphids. Root maggots may be a problem in some areas. Watch for leaf spots, blackleg, black rot and yellows.
