Vampisoul present a reissue of Perú Negro's self-titled album, sub-titled Gran Premio Del Festival Hispanoamericano de la Danza y La Cancion, originally released in 1973. Afro-Peruvian music, also known as "música criolla", finds it's roots in West African music, Spanish, and European genres and native musical traditions from Peru. Flamenco-influenced sounds sit next to African tribal elements and a simple yet effective percussion instrument called cajón. After a long struggle to preserve música criolla through oral tradition over generations, actually resulting in much of the original music being lost, a renewed interest in those rhythms and melodies arose in the 1950s. Some years later the legendary Peruvian singer Chabuca Granda provided help to promote Perú Negro, a dance company that also incorporated percussion combined with música criolla. Ronaldo Campos, "Lalo" Izquierdo, Víctor Padilla, Rodolfo Arteaga, and Caitro Soto, among others, played a key role in the foundation and early days of the company. Their shows celebrated and recreated black culture in Peru and they quickly became regulars at Lima's theaters. In 1969 they won the main award at the Festival Hispanoamericano de la Danza y la Canción in Argentina. The repertoire performed at the festival was later included in this album, originally released in 1973 in Peru and Spain only. The lyrics and music of these songs reflect the country's multicultural diversity, blending elements from the African tradition and echoes of Spanish-influenced melodies around stories of slavery days, rural labor, and folklore. Although lesser known than music from other nearby countries, Peru Negro's recordings are reminiscent of Afro-Colombian or Afro-Cuban rhythms. If you have an interest in Cuban son or Colombian bambuco, this record will be an essential addition to your collection and the perfect introduction to the fascinating música criolla. Presented in facsimile artwork and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

premium feel in the hand.
Can't really say whether it's that good or not elecronics wise since I didn't test it but it works like it's supposed to. Meanwhile, the housing oh man. It's premium. It feels like hard aluminum or something, very nice. Edges are rounded too with just the right sharpness like a macbook. Others would've been plastic. This is really nice for the price and if the specs really are 10Gbps, that's really good because most in this price range is 5Gbps.

Failed to support desktop PCs with USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports
Does not work with my HP mini PC with USB 3.2 gen 2 ports - when connecting USB portable SSDs to the hub.
You won't believe it, but many USB 3.2 Gen 2 hubs only support laptops not desktop PCs (except hubs that have dedicated power supply for higher power USB devices e.g. SSD/HDDs) when connecting USB portable SSDs to the hub.
We need a major fix from many of the USB hub vendors so these products can work with desktop PCs that have USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports.
Workaround:
Just directly connect the USB portable SSD to the PC instead.
If you need more USB ports, pick up a good old USB 3.0 hub. They're working correctly with portable USB SSDs when working with desktop PCs.
(You'd need a powered USB hub if you're connecting 2 or more portable SSDs - do your own calculation: 5V - 1A per SSD/HDD).

Perfect for ROG Ally X
Want to hook up a keyboard, mouse, headset, AND external display to a ROG Ally X? This will do it and it only takes up one (USB4) port on the Ally X. Oh, and it will also provide enough power to charge the Ally and still have juice for all the other ports.
Update: I’ve now tried a few USB4 hubs because I also want Ethernet which this doesn’t have. Unfortunately I’ve discovered that most of them seem to overheat after awhile and I loose connectivity on some of the ports (for whatever reason it’s always the type A ports on the hubs that fail). After letting them cool down, the other USB hubs work again, but it’s still frustrating. This StarTech hub is the only one that works for hours. It’s a little bulkier than other hubs I’ve tried, but that’s probably because it needs to be that way for proper heat dissipation?? Anyway, I wish it had a few more ports (including Ethernet), but for reliability this thing is the best I’ve found.

The Best!
This thing is amazing! Worked right out of the box. No drivers to install, no confusion, just plug and go. I'm using this hub to connect a mouse, a keyboard, and a monitor to my 2025 MacBook Air (M4).
Before buying this I bought a complicated, powered hub for 2x the price and wasted multiple hours trying to get the $%^&(*& thing to work, which it never did. If you want to run a display and a few peripherals, this Startech hub is the absolute best bang for your buck.

Quality Control Issues
I want to like this dock, I really do. I purchased it with the intention of using it as a hub for my phone + usb-c external display.
The pass-through charging never worked on this dock. Tried multiple cords and tested the dock with nothing plugged into any of the USB ports -- all of the power disappears somewhere onto the hub and the actual charge rate on my phone slows to a trickle. With nothing connected, it estimates >24hrs to charge from 30% to full.
The plus side is that the usb ports do work, though the usb-c display went from 100% reliability to <50% within a few months of purchase. Extremely frustrating.
