Trained under the guidance of A. Scorpe, DA Giordani and FA Urio, Francesco M. Benedetti is Choirmaster in Assisi, a friend of G. Tartini and a fellow student of Padre Martini.
The complex counterpoint of his music closely recalls Bachian characteristics, yet it also yields to galant elements that at times verge on a pre-classical idiom. Dense, virtuosic ornamentation, typical of the performance practice of the time, supports the theories on ornamental practice of the time.
ENGLISH VERSION
Trained under the guidance of A. Scorpe, DA Giordani and FA Urio, Francesco M. Benedetti is Chapel Master in Assisi, friend of G. Tartini and confrere of Father Martini.
The complex counterpoint of his music closely recalls Bachian characteristics which, however, give way to galant elements that in some points result in a pre-classical language. Dense and virtuosic ornamentations typical of the performance practice of the time support the theories on the ornamentation of that period.
