Michael Blake is South African composition's most important link to the American and British experimental traditions of the second half of the 20th century. It is a connection that derives as much from the composer's temperament and aesthetic sensibility, as from more conscious decisions relating to the socio-political positioning of composition. As regards the former, Blake's affinity with composers like Charles Ives and John Cage precedes his mature engagements with these composers through an embrace of certain qualities of openness relating to musical structure and material that can be heard throughout the works recorded on this album. Blake's "song without words" demonstrates deconstruction, playfulness, irregularity, irony and a postmodern referential sensibility. Apart from "song without words," which was written in 1972, the seven other works recorded on this album date from between 2008 and 2016, a period of mature compositional activity bookended by the composer's retirement to the village of Hout Bay near Cape Town late in 2008, and relocation to France in 2015.

Offers tons of activity
Color: Turtle
My 70lb dog LOVES this turtle toy, was worth the price. He will play and play until he’s exhausted. We have to give him breaks from it. We use the second setting which is just for movement, no music. The only aspect I don’t like is that he will inadvertently press the button when he’s biting the toy, changing the setting and sometimes has turned it off. The velcro is super strong, which is good but makes it difficult to open. Battery life is decent, lasted a few days with him playing with it an hour or so each evening. I like the auto shut off after 30 minutes of no movement.

Keeps Aussie Entertained for Hours

This puzzle toy has quickly become one of my dog’s favorite sources of entertainment. It keeps him busy, challenged, and happy. The variety of difficulty levels gives him a challenge, and it is so fun to watch him work through the puzzles. Even when he is just playing with individual pieces, he is entertained.
It is also very user-friendly. Setup is simple, and it is not overly complicated for the owner to manage. Cleaning is surprisingly easy, too. The pieces wipe down well, and nothing traps food or slobber, which is a huge win compared to some other toys we have tried.
Functionality-wise, it is fantastic. The levels of difficulty actually work as intended, and I like being able to adjust them based on my dog’s mood. It is durable, too. The weight and sturdiness of the pieces keep them from sliding around too much during play, and they are tough enough to withstand my Aussie’s powerful chewing without damage. I also like how it is numbered so you can quickly move onto the next level without too much thought. With that, I have noticed the higher levels are challenging, and my Aussie has yet to get through them all. Eventually he gets bored and stops trying.
It is a high-quality, fun, and engaging toy that provides mental stimulation, holds up to rough play, and is easy for me to maintain. Definitely one of the best puzzle toys I have tried!

She loves it!

Tried it as soon as we received it. My dog is a doberman german shepherd mix. I used multiple levels to see what my dog can figure out. It kept her pretty occupied for about 15 minutes and then I readjusted the last level so she could figure it out. With that being said, it can definitely keep them busy for longer! This is going to be a great toy, we love it already. Very durable for my girl, she's a pretty heavy chewer. Very easy to clean because it's a rubber material. The overall puzzle design is also great, really gets them to think. Very easy to stuff treats or kibble inside. Lastly, I LOVE that it's blue and yellow! I wish more toys were in blue and yellow because dogs are color blind! I would definitely consider getting more pieces in the future.

Durable and fun

I have a chewer who gets bored in the afternoon. She loves these Lego blocks. They’re sturdy enough for a big chewer and they hold her interest . She really enjoys figuring out how to get her breakfast!
