George Gershwin's 1917 novelty rag "Rialto Ripples" was his first published instrumental, and was a commercial success. It has all the hallmarks of Gershwin's piano style, with stride left hand patterns and ragtime syncopation typical of that era.
George Gershwin (September 26, 1898 β July 11, 1937) was an American composer and pianist.Β Gershwin's compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. Among his best-known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue (1924) and An American in Paris (1928) as well as the opera Porgy and Bess (1935).
This arrangement may be performed as either a brass quintet (using the 'Q' parts), or in the original Solid Brass version (using the 'SB' parts), or in a flexible version combining parts from both sets as needed.
