Mongo is what you would call a “problem child”, but even though he cannot seem to follow the rules, his grandmother Mama Amalia decides to take him in and raise him as her own. About the Author
Zully Pina was born in the Dominican Republic, her mother died at birth just five weeks after Zully was born. Although born into a mixed-wealth family, she and her grandmother, Mama Rosa, were not wealthy. At an early age, she became a police officer. After graduating college with a degree in English language and American English expressions, she became a news anchor radio broadcaster and resigned from her police officer position. Later, she started working as a TV producer. After Mama Rosa had a few brain strokes and better conditions were needed, Pina moved to the USA and became a US citizen. Pina is a single mother, and had to leave her Mama Rosa and her son, Diego. Mama Amalia And Mongo is her third book and she has many more in the works. This book is based on a true story that happened in her family. Needless to say some of the events in this story are part of the brilliant inspiration of Zully Pina.
