LAND TENURE & THE REVOLUTION IN DEMOCRACY & BIRTH-CONTROL IN FRANCE: Demography, Territory & Law 3The French Revolution was both democratic and demographic and did not begin and end in 1789. The French Revolution was both democratic and demographic and did not begin and end in 1789. The French were able to sustain it over several generations because they retained a relatively clan-based land-tenure system, able to preserve intergenerational values and projects and to exploit secret printing, secret societies Ð including Freemasonry - and secret information via a tight pedlar network.

The uptake of birth-control among ordinary people was a measure of democratic self-determination. The French, who had high birth rates and high infant mortality under the Old Regime, began to use contraception widely as monarchy and church domination ended, with a huge drop in family size, more than 100 years before comparable countries. Leading up to the Revolution, sex for pleasure and rejection of traditional authority were normalised among the ordinary French via massive clandestine distribution of pornographic, anti-clerical, and anti-royal literature, which the monarchy had deemed illegal on pain of death.

Using comparative methods, the author shows that, although many democratic revolutions were mooted and attempted there, the ordinary British, Irish, and French-Canadians could not maintain organised and effective revolutionary processes or control their family sizes. Their repeatedly fractured populations were easily undermined internally by government spies, whilst the French resisted concerted long-term external military opposition and the temporary reinstallation of monarchies.

The book reviews biological, social, and political theory on family size, structure, and transmission of territory, and gives a detailed demographic and revolutionary history of France, Britain, Ireland and French Canada, including a comparative history of corresponding societies and Freemasonry in these countries. The post-Revolutionary French population provides a major example of a population which reduced its fertility prior to industrialisation, despite increasing life expectancies and marriage rates. The French case challenges the still dominant Warren Thomson demographic transition model (1929) that industrialisation is a requirement for a demographic transition from high fertility and low life-expectancy to low fertility and high life-expectancy.

Very Well-Made and Works Great!
I have a Macbook Pro, and naturally, these computers don't come with USB ports to connect to. That's why I bought these adapters. I needed some high quality ones that I know will last me for a long time, and given that I own my Anker products, I figured these would be a great purchase. And they are! These adapters are very well built. There's a bit of heft to them, and they feel very stable when plugged into my computer. There's no noise or distraction coming from them. You just plug it in and that's it. I have never once had any connectivity issues where the adapter, for whatever reason, stops working and I have to unplug it and then plug it back it. No, it works straight from the box and hasn't given me any issues. These are great adapters because they're built very sturdy, will not cause any connectivity issues, and are nice if you want to use a mouse or connect a USB stick to your Macbook.

Simple Solution for Using USB-A Cables with USB-C Chargers
I used these for the first time last week when I needed to plug a USB-A cable into a newer USB-C charger. They worked exactly as expected. The connection was solid, and the device powered on without any issues. I’ve generally had good experiences with Anker products, and these adapters are consistent with that—simple and reliable for what they’re designed to do. These are useful for bridging older USB-A cables with newer USB-C power sources, especially for basic charging needs. Build quality feels solid for the size, and they’re small enough to keep with your cables without getting in the way. Overall: a straightforward and reliable adapter for using USB-A cables with USB-C chargers.

Great product, mic and camera compatible
I bought this to use a webcam with a built-in mic on my Microsoft Windows Surface Pro 8. When I first plugged in the webcam both the camera and the mic were recognized, however the mic was not picking up sound. After double checking the device settings, my privacy settings, the device drivers, and everything else I simply unplugged and replugged the camera in. Then everything worked as I had hoped. Great value for a great product. I trust Anker to reliably protect and provide stability for all of my devices. Simple product, plug and play. Sleek, simple design
