Wood shavings come with this house as an added bonus, and should be spread 1" to 2" deep in the nest box to attract woodpeckers. Soft wood excavated from dead trees makes for premium nesting material, so the included wood chips help simulate the perfect nesting environment for woodpeckers. Each side of this house features a gap for ventilation, and a sloping roof and drainage holes ensure the interior remains dry.
